Directives No. (2) for the Year 2000
Directives for the Services of Educational Resources and Library Services at The Hashemite University Library and Their Modifications
Issued in Accordance with Article No. (57) in Works and Supplies Regulations at The Hashemite University No. (59) for the Year 1999

Item (1): Those directives are called "Directives for the Services of Educational Resources and Library Services at The Hashemite University Library for the Year 2000", and they are effective as of issuance. 
Item (2): The following words and expressions have the following designations, unless the context indicates otherwise:
The University: The Hashemite University
The Library: The Hashemite University Library
The Director: The Hashemite University Library Director
Item (3): The library offers copying services, database services, and training services according to the following principles:
- Copying a university thesis for agencies outside Jordan in return for (50) JOD, including mail and shipping fees.
- Copying a university thesis for agencies inside Jordan in return for (20) JOD, including mail and shipping fees.
- Copying a university thesis on a CD, …etc., in return for (5) JOD.
- Copying for official work within the university is free, upon the request of the ordering party and with the consent of the President of the university. 
- The cost of printing from databases is (10) Piasters per page, and printing takes the form of download on a flash drive or a CD.
- Copying any book appendix (like a CD or a floppy disk) for educational purposes on a CD in return for (1) JOD.
- The library charges a fee (150) JOD in return for training non-governmental agencies willing to train their students or employees inside the library and issues an official statement signed by the director certifying this. 
- The library charges a fee (150) JOD in return for issuing an official statement for a visitor, provided that the library incurs no financial or legal commitments towards the visitor.
- Copying articles from periodicals unavailable among library possessions in return for (5) JOD.
Item (4): 
A. Books are lent to faculty members and employees per a university ID.
B. Books are lent to students per a university ID or a special ID issued by the library, and this can only be used by the owner.
Item (5): 
A. A faculty member or a full-time lecturer can borrow up to (10) books for the period of one semester at most.
B. Part-time lecturers, teaching assistants, and graduate students can borrow up to (7) books, employees can borrow (3) books for the period of (4) weeks at most in all cases. 
C. Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree can borrow up to (3) books for the period of (2) weeks at most.
D. Faculty members can renew borrowing for one time only, provided that they do not have overdue items or uncollected late charges.
Item (6): 
A. The library can lend its materials to governmental and public agencies, (5) books at most for the period of (3) weeks at most per a special ID issued at the request of such agencies and given to an approved deputy in return for a refundable fee (100) JOD. 
B. Per particular regulations it approves, the library can lend books to members of the local community, (3) books at most and for the period of (3) weeks at most per a special ID issued for this end provided that the borrower pays a refundable fee (50) JOD in addition to an annual fee (30) JOD.
Item (7): The library lends students who do not enroll in the summer semester up to (3) books for the period of (3) weeks at most in return for a fee (5) JOD.
Item (8): If the borrower is late in returning library materials, a fee applies (150) Piasters for each late day provided that this fee does not exceed (10) JOD. Library materials are considered lost after (4) months from the return date.
Items (9): Additional books cannot be lent to any user if they have late books.
Item (10): References, rare books, special collections, theses, periodicals, films, slides, CDs, and magnetic tapes cannot be lent except in special cases determined by the director. 
Item (11): 
A. Books are placed on the reserve shelf at the request of a faculty member before a semester begins per a particular form prepared for this task. 
B. Books on the reserve shelf are lent for one night only, and if they are not returned the following morning a late fee applies (500) Piasters per each late day.
Item (12): The director has the right to reclaim any lent book before the loan period is over, if necessary.
Item (13): The director has the right to abstain from lending a book or allowing its circulation inside the library in the sake of public interest.
Item (14): Interlibrary loan among the library and other libraries of public universities and official scientific research institutions is allowed per special agreements.
Item (15): A borrower is obliged to secure an original copy of a lost or damaged library item, and when this is impossible the borrower is 
charged triple the price of the original material in addition to (2) JOD in return for bookbinding.
Item (16): No faculty member, lecturer, employee, or student can get a clearance before they get cleared from the library.
Item (17): Handbags and big bags cannot be allowed in the library. They should be entrusted to the department of trusts in return for a receipt, and if the receipt is lost the director settles the issue.
Item (18): Upon departing, library goers reveal their items of books and other library materials, along with their library ID, to the Entrance Observer.
Item (19): The library director is responsible for implementing the items of those directives.
Item (20): Those directives cancel all conflicting regulations or those in previous regulations or decisions.
