The Department is in charge of teaching undergraduate dental students all fields of conservative dentistry including Dental cariology, Operative dentistry, Esthetic dentistry, Endodontics and Fixed and Removable prosthodontics. The pre-clinical undergraduate phase is carried out in a modern building in the University campus where well-equipped and up-to date facilities laboratories can accommodate 120 students per session to provide students with the necessary preclinical skills before they deal directly with patients in the clinical phase during the 4th and 5th years.
The department will be involved in addition to the teaching responsibilities in collaboration with other departments at Faculty of Dentistry in serving the local community through treating patients, giving oral and dental health instructions and via the scientific and voluntary days, which will be conducted annually.
Vision and Mission
The Department aims at integrating all the disciplines of conservative Dentistry and prosthodontics, advanced patient care, and basic dental sciences with the ultimate goal of graduating well-trained and experienced dental professionals who can translate their knowledge and training into clinical practice that will promote the oral health of the community. Dental graduates will also be capable of life-long learning to improve their knowledge and skills and be competent in providing comprehensive restorative and rehabilitative treatment for their patients and serve as a resource for community oral health care and advanced scientific innovative research in dentistry. This can be accomplished through:
- Motivating and improving the skills of all graduates
- Conducting innovative research that will have a remarkable impact on developing dental sciences.
- Accomplishment of recognition of the academic program at both regional and international levels.
