THIS HUGE NUMBER WAS A BURDEN FOR THE FACULTY OF ARTS WHEN IT CAME TO REGISTRATION IN CLASSES, OPENING CLOSED SECTIONS, HANDLING STUDENT PAPERWORK, GIVING REPLACEMENT COURSES, HANDLING ABSENCE EXCUSE APPROVALS, GIVING MAKE-UP EXAMS, PROCTORING EXAMS, AND ENDORSING GRADES, ..ETC. SUCH TASKS, ROUTINE AS THEY SEEM, STILL CONSUMED STAFF ENERGY DURING PEAK PERIODS LIKE ADD/DROP PERIOD, FINAL EXAM PERIOD, AND PRE-FINAL EXAM PERIOD.

3. MONITORING CASES OF ABSENCE FROM FINAL EXAMS. THE FACULTY OF ARTS REDUCED THE HUGE NUMBER OF ABSENCE COMPARED WITH THAT FROM PREVIOUS SEMESTERS, LIMITING CASES OF EXCUSED ABSENCE TO THE FOLLOWING:

- DEATH OF A FIRST-DEGREE RELATIVE
- FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE CONFLICT
- SECONDARY SCHOOL (TAWJEHI) EXAMS
- SURGERY OR A CRITICAL CONDITION WITH AN APPROVED MEDICAL REPORT
THE FACULTY OF ARTS DEANSHIP WIDELY PROMOTED AND ANNOUNCED SUCH GUIDELINES WELL BEFORE FINAL EXAMS TO THE EFFECT THAT THE NUMBER OF ABSENT STUDENTS DRAMATICALLY DECREASED.

ONLY (61) EXCUSES WERE ACCEPTED, WHICH IS A VERY LOW RATE COMPARED WITH THAT OF PREVIOUS SEMESTERS AND WITH THE HUGE NUMBER OF ENROLLED STUDENTS (17,588).
