This course explores the principles and techniques of molecular diagnostics as applied to infectious diseases. Students will learn about the molecular mechanisms of pathogen detection, identification, and characterization, as well as the use of cutting-edge technologies such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction), real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and CRISPR-based diagnostics. The course also covers the clinical applications of these techniques in diagnosing bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections, with an emphasis on accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. |
