Sustainability is a priority at the Hashemite University. Through the actions that it is taking, the University aims to become more energy self-sufficient with increasing the carbon saving. The Hashemite University aims to have smart and green campus with ability to dynamically manage all sources of power on the grid means that more distributed generation can be integrated within it. The Hashemite University's (HU) Grid-Connected 5 MWp Project is part of the Hashemite University’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RE&EE) strategy, launched in 2012. This project achieved 100% energy independence for the university. The 5 MWp Project is under the supervision of the renewable energy center. This contributes to HU role and ethical commitment towards its community and stakeholders in environmental sustainability.
