Center in Brief
• Introduction and Overview: • Research and Quality Control Department: Overseeing research projects according to established standards, conducting professional engineering and technical consultations locally and internationally in the field of structural inspections, providing technical and research information to researchers for specialized research purposes, preparing technical specifications for departmental operations and research projects, and coordinating various scientific activities and conferences related to structural inspections within and outside the university campus. • Vision: • Center's Message: • Center's Objectives and Tasks:
The Building and Environmental Structural Systems Center (BESSC) was established in 2020 with the aim of advancing the civil engineering sector and educational process through applied experiments on structural, building, and industrial systems, conducting multiple tests on construction materials, and providing specialized consultations. The center became operational in 2022, with structural testing conducted by master's program students in the Civil Engineering Department - Structures, and researchers from the faculty. Covering an area of approximately 3200 square meters, the center is equipped to conduct various structural tests at large scale, simulating real-world conditions. BESSC comprises two departments and five divisions as follows:
• Marketing and Applications Department: Responsible for project management and marketing plans, monitoring technical reports on project sustainability, engaging with local communities and various institutions to promote the importance of structural inspections, preparing agreements for center operations and project sustainability, and securing necessary accreditations for center marketing and integration into the workforce sector.
The center aims to achieve the university's goals in higher education, scientific research, and community service, and foster research and academic collaboration with scientific and national institutions. It strives to be a distinguished center, pioneering in offering all types of structural inspection services, consultations, training, and technical support within and outside Jordan, bridging the gap between theory and practice in the field of structural engineering.
We are committed to providing a safe environment for scientific research and delivering exceptional engineering services and consultations to researchers and engineering entities from both the public and private sectors. By equipping the center with the latest equipment and devices, enhancing the efficiency of center staff, and improving the level of services offered, we aim to achieve this through training courses and workshops targeting master's students in the Structures Engineering Department and interested researchers.
The center's objectives and tasks include providing technical services and engineering consultations to industrial companies and engineering entities, assisting researchers and faculty members in conducting high-quality research studies, updating national engineering codes to align with our country's needs, materials, and societal culture, applying experiments for undergraduate and master's students to enhance their understanding of theory and practice in structural engineering.
