  • The Advisory Council of the Hashemite University Nursing College Praises Its Achievements and the Excellence of Its Graduates

The Advisory Council of the Nursing College at Hashemite University praised the excellence of the college’s programs, plans, and the outstanding performance of its students in the most recent nursing practice exam during its first meeting in 2025. The meeting was attended by the University’s Vice President, Professor Dr. Khaled Abulteen, along with council members. The council also commended the success of the college’s graduates in securing jobs in both the public and private sectors, both inside Jordan and abroad.

During the meeting, they emphasized the need to continue building on the college's achievements, especially after it received the prestigious international accreditation (ACEN) in 2024, which reflects the quality of education and its positive impact on enhancing the reputation of its graduates in local and international job markets, as well as opening opportunities for them to pursue postgraduate studies.

Dr. Abulteen mentioned that the success of the college’s graduates in securing appropriate job opportunities within the first year of their graduation is a source of pride for the university administration and its members. He stated that this is the goal they have been working towards and will continue to strengthen it.

He also highlighted the importance of building strong relationships with the local community through organizing more free medical days in various parts of Zarqa Governorate and other governorates. Furthermore, he emphasized raising health awareness within the community, continuing to exchange experiences with the Nursing Syndicate, the Jordanian Nursing Council, and employers both locally and internationally, especially with the increasing global demand for nursing skills. He called for the introduction of new nursing specializations to keep up with developments and changes in the healthcare sector.

On her part, the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Jamila Abodahil, confirmed the college’s continued efforts to develop essential skills in creative thinking, leadership, teamwork, work ethics, and enhancing field training. She also mentioned the college’s commitment to utilizing digital technology in nursing practice to improve the quality of nursing care provided. Additionally, she noted the college’s focus on improving graduates' competencies and addressing challenges in practical training by establishing advanced laboratories for education and training, including the Simulation Skills Lab. The dean also provided data regarding completion rate where 376 students were admitted in 2020 while 294 students have graduated after 4 years of study in 2024, giving a completion rate of 78%.

The council members discussed the importance of keeping up with technological developments in the healthcare and nursing sectors, stressing the need to train students to use modern technologies and digital systems, which have become essential components of healthcare services.

During the meeting, a documentary film was presented, showcasing the college’s path to excellence and success since its establishment in 1999, including the introduction of its bachelor's and master's degree programs.

The session concluded with the election of Dr. Alaa Ashour from the Jordan University of Science and Technology as the head of the council. The council includes the Dean of the College, the Secretary-General of the Jordanian Nursing Council, the Head of the Nursing Syndicate, the Directors of Zarqa First Education and Zarqa Health, the Dean of the Nursing College at Zarqa University, the Director of Zarqa Government Hospital, the Mayor of Hashemite City, a member of the faculty at the Jordan University of Science and Technology, and several faculty members from the Hashemite University Nursing College.

-  The faculty was ranked the second among other Jordanian faculties in the National Competency Exam in 2006.

- The faculty was ranked the first in the Quality Assurance Program and also the first in the National Competency among other Jordanian Faculties of Nursing in 2007.

- The faculty has opened the first master nursing program in Jordan in the fields of Mental Health and also Oncology in 2009.

- 1n 2019, the faculty expanded its master program to include the field of Maternity and Women health.
