Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The Hashemite University Concludes Career Readiness Program with a Training Visit to Hikma Academy
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The Hashemite University concluded the activities of the 2026 Career Readiness and Labor Market Preparation Program for track students through a training program entitled “I Communicate”, held at Hikma Academy and delivered by Hikma Pharmaceuticals.
This activity was organized as part of the Faculty’s commitment to bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application and enhancing students’ readiness to enter the labor market. As part of the program, a field visit was organized for students of the Industrial and Cosmetic Pharmacy track to Hikma Academy, providing them with the opportunity to explore the professional work environment within the pharmaceutical sector.
The visit included a specialized training workshop on professional communication skills and their importance in the pharmaceutical workplace. The workshop was delivered by Engineer Nisreen Sandouqa and Pharmacist Lubna Al-Nahar from Hikma Pharmaceuticals. It adopted an interactive approach that included practical examples focusing on effective communication, teamwork, and workplace ethics, contributing to the development of students’ professional personalities and practical competencies.
In this context, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Professor Suja Hamed, emphasized that this visit aligns with the Faculty’s vision of strengthening meaningful partnerships with the industrial sector. She highlighted the Faculty’s commitment to integrating professional and behavioral skills into its educational framework alongside specialized academic preparation.
She further noted that the collaboration with Hikma Pharmaceuticals, as a strategic partner of the Faculty in specialized training and labor market preparation, represents an effective model of university-industry integration. This partnership contributes to preparing graduates who possess both scientific competence and practical readiness to compete in the local and regional labor markets.
The participating students expressed their appreciation for this training experience, emphasizing the importance of such visits in enhancing their practical understanding of the nature of work in pharmaceutical companies and equipping them with professional skills that support their future careers with confidence and competence.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Organizes a Session on Quality in the Packaging Department as Part of the Career Readiness Program
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The Hashemite University organized a session entitled “Quality in Packaging Department”, as part of the Career Readiness and Labour Market Preparation Program for Track Students 2026.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Yaser Al-Qararaah, a graduate of the first cohort of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who currently serves as a Production Manager at Hikma Pharmaceuticals. During the session, Dr. Al-Qararaah addressed several specialized topics related to his practical experience in pharmaceutical packaging.
The lecture covered an introduction to the packaging department in the pharmaceutical industry, the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice — GMP, Data Integrity, quality concepts and definitions, defect classification, and in-process quality control mechanisms.
This event comes as part of the Faculty’s efforts to enhance students’ applied knowledge and bridge academic learning with labour market needs, contributing to their professional preparation and readiness to enter the pharmaceutical industry with competence and confidence.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Football Tournament Concludes with “Merkel” Cohort Winning the Title
The final match of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Football Tournament was held today, following two weeks of student competitions that brought together teams from different cohorts across the Faculty. The tournament took place in an enthusiastic atmosphere that reflected teamwork, positive competition, and student engagement.
After a series of competitive matches, the “Merkel” cohort team and the “Soul” cohort team qualified for the final match, which featured an excellent performance and strong competition between both teams, accompanied by lively support from attending students.
The tournament concluded with the “Merkel” cohort team winning the championship title after a spirited final match marked by enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
The Faculty extends its appreciation to all participating students and organizers for their efforts in making this student activity a success. The event was coordinated by Dr. Dana Al-Atoum, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, and supervised by Mr. Ali Salameh from the Faculty, in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs.

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Launches the First Career Readiness and Labour Market Preparation Event for 2026 Track Students
Under the patronage of Professor Suja Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The Hashemite University, the Faculty organized the first Career Readiness and Labour Market Preparation Event for Track Students for the year 2026, held at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences auditorium.
The event was organized as part of the Faculty’s commitment to empowering students, preparing them professionally, and enhancing their readiness to enter the labour market with confidence and competence. It aimed to introduce students to practical experiences and the key skills required across various pharmaceutical sectors.
The event featured a session entitled “Start Strong: Career Readiness Secrets for Graduates”, delivered by Dr. Razan Tabila, Workforce Development and Training Systems Consultant, Founder and CEO of EVOQ Solutions, and Founder and Director of the “Masarak” Career Development Initiative.
The session addressed three main themes: the importance of gaining practical experience, understanding labour market requirements and challenges, and building an effective professional network that contributes to career development and opens new opportunities for graduates. Dr. Tabila also emphasized the importance of self-awareness, understanding market needs, and developing a clear career plan aligned with each student’s personal goals and professional aspirations.
The event also included a session entitled “From Pharmacy to Health Policy Work: Finding My Role in the Bigger Picture”, delivered by Dr. Tasneem Abu Alkhair, a 2020 graduate of the Faculty and a Young and Emerging Evaluator/Consultant at the United Nations Population Fund.
Dr. Abu Alkhair shared her professional experience working with international organizations and highlighted the important role of pharmacists in health policy and decision-making. She also emphasized the importance of thinking beyond traditional career paths, particularly in light of the expanding fields of pharmacy and the emergence of new professional tracks that respond to developments in the profession and the needs of the labour market.
This event comes as an annual initiative organized by the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at The Hashemite University as part of its efforts to bridge academic learning with professional practice for fifth-year students. It contributes to preparing qualified pharmacy graduates who are capable of competing effectively in the local and regional labour markets.

The Hashemite University Holds an Awareness Seminar on the Risks of Smoking and Drug Abuse
Under the patronage of Professor Khaled Al-Hiyari, President of The Hashemite University, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, in cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine and the Deanship of Student Affairs, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Together Towards a University Environment Free from Smoking and Drugs.”
The seminar was held as part of the University’s mission to promote health awareness among students, raise awareness of the risks associated with both traditional and electronic smoking, and highlight the serious health and social consequences of drug abuse.
The seminar featured talks by Dr. Mousa Al-Qaryouti, President of the Jordanian Anti-Drug Society, and Ms. Rawan Shehab from the King Hussein Cancer Center/Tobacco Control Office. The event was attended by Professor Mohammad Al-Tamimi, Vice President for Health Faculties, Professor Suja Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Ayman Aleimat, Dean of Student Affairs, deans of health faculties, faculty and administrative staff members, and a large number of students.
During the seminar, Professor Al-Hiyari emphasized the national and ethical role of The Hashemite University in providing a healthy and safe university environment for its students, in line with the University’s strategic plan to combat smoking and drug abuse for the years 2026–2029. He stated that this plan reflects the University’s commitment to ensuring that the campus remains a space for learning, extracurricular engagement, and safe academic life, while continuing to serve as a voice of awareness, a symbol of responsibility, and a stimulating environment that fosters critical thinking, sound choices, and firm values among students.
Professor Al-Hiyari also highlighted the importance of national partnerships in strengthening students’ awareness, expressing appreciation for the constructive cooperation with the King Hussein Cancer Center and the Jordanian Anti-Drug Society. He stressed that combating these harmful practices is a national responsibility that requires the integrated efforts of national institutions to build a more aware and resilient society, particularly in addressing issues that target young people.
Professor Suja Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, emphasized the Faculty’s awareness-raising role in combating smoking and drug abuse through lectures, educational workshops, and support programs for smoking cessation. She also highlighted the key role of pharmacists in reducing the misuse of narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as in raising awareness of the legal and ethical aspects related to dispensing and monitoring these medications.
Professor Hamed warned against the misleading belief that electronic cigarettes are safe or less harmful. She noted that several studies have shown that the contents of many e-cigarette products do not match their labels, as they may contain higher levels of nicotine and other toxic chemicals than stated. She also pointed out that some compounds produced during heating may be carcinogenic and may lead to chronic inflammation and functional disorders in the body.
During his talk, Dr. Mousa Al-Qaryouti discussed the importance of awareness and prevention in limiting the spread of drug abuse and its health and social consequences. He reviewed common types of narcotic substances that may target young people and various segments of society, highlighting their destructive effects on mental and physical health. He also noted that many addiction cases begin as a result of false and misleading information promoted by drug dealers. In addition, he addressed the role of the Jordanian Anti-Drug Society in rehabilitating recovering individuals and supporting their reintegration into society in a healthy and stable manner.
Ms. Rawan Shehab discussed electronic tobacco and nicotine products, their risks, and methods of cessation, emphasizing the importance of following evidence-based smoking cessation guidelines. She also presented key facts about cancer in Jordan and the services provided by smoking cessation clinics across the Kingdom. She encouraged students to review the King Hussein Cancer Center’s statement on the spread of e-cigarettes, which highlighted the increasing prevalence of their use among different groups in society, particularly among young people. She also stressed the need for urgent preventive measures, stricter regulation of these products, and improved access to cessation services.
The seminar also included a short video prepared by the Activities Committee at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The video addressed the risks of smoking and presented real student experiences, in which students shared how they started smoking, its effects on their health, and their advice to peers on the importance of quitting.

Field Visit for Industrial and Cosmetic Pharmacy Students to Lamees Detergent Manufacturing Company
As part of the memorandum of understanding between Lamees Detergent Manufacturing Company and the Hashemite University, the company hosted students from the Industrial and Cosmetic Pharmacy track enrolled in the course “Special Topics in Cosmetic Science” for a field visit aimed at bridging academic knowledge with industrial practice.
During the visit, students were introduced to the industrial aspects of manufacturing personal care products and detergents. They also participated in an orientation session covering the detergent industry and the role of research and development laboratories in product innovation and quality improvement. The visit further included a guided tour of the company’s facilities, including the personal care and liquid production plants, where students observed production processes and quality standards applied in manufacturing.
This visit aligns with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences’ commitment to promoting applied education, enhancing students’ practical competencies, and equipping Industrial and Cosmetic Pharmacy students with essential industrial knowledge in the field of cosmetics and personal care products.

Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculty Marks World Diabetes Day with Health Awareness Event
In celebration of World Diabetes Day, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Hashemite University organized a health awareness event, featuring blood glucose testing stations and educational activities for students and staff. The event was held in collaboration with Al-Iman Drug Store.
The activity was supervised by Dr. Dana Al-Atoom, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, who oversaw the organization and student participation throughout the event. The day concluded with two awareness lectures:
One presented by Dr. Inaam Al-Momani and Dr. Tahani Al-Wadiyan, focusing on diabetes, medications, and healthy lifestyle practices.
The second, dedicated to university staff, addressed treatment strategies and essential health tips to manage and prevent complications of diabetes.
The event saw strong engagement from both students and employees, with active Q&A sessions and discussions. Additionally, students contributed by preparing awareness videos about diabetes and ways to manage it, adding a creative and informative element to the event.

Welcome Meeting for New Students and Honor Ceremony for Outstanding Achievers at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences – Hashemite University
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Hashemite University held a welcoming event for its new students (Class of 2025–2030), in the presence of the Dean, faculty members, and administrative staff. The event aimed to introduce new students to their academic environment, encourage excellence, and foster student engagement.
As part of the celebration, the faculty honored outstanding students from various cohorts whose names were added to the Honor Board, in recognition of their academic performance and dedication.
The event concluded with a group photo of the new class (2025–2030) taken in front of the Faculty building, in a joyful and proud academic atmosphere.
