(MD)Doctor of Medicine Degree

  School of medicine at Hashemite University is designed to produce doctors who are who are equipped with the clinical abilities, knowledge, attitudes and professional behaviors needed to become a doctor.  The program is characterized by students obtaining extensive clinical experience which is supported by teaching and learning in the supporting medical sciences.  The doctor of medicine curriculum is a six-year undergraduate degree. It is an interdisciplinary program, integrating biomedical sciences and clinical skills training. The content of the core curriculum of the Medical Program is determined from the range of basic biomedical knowledge and clinic experience that a doctor will have to be competent in dealing with on graduation. Thus the development of clinical ability and underpinning science is integrated and relevant to the needs of the future doctor.  During the early years of the program, the basic medical and behavioral sciences (anatomy, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, psychology and sociology) are taught through expert faculty member.  In the fourth year, Introductory course introduced special clinical skills and the students study medicine and surgery within clinical rotation. The fifth year is largely taken up with core clinical rotations Sub-surgeries, Emergency medicine, dermatology, family medicine and psychological medicine. The sixth year of the course has been structured as a series of clinical rotation in, medicine, surgery, pediatric and gynecology, and one elective rotation.   During clinical years, students have a chance to train in military hospitals, university hospitals and ministry of health hospital that give him especial experience in different areas, exposed to different patient varieties.
