Recent Activities..

*  A seminar organized by the Scientific Committees in Faculty of Science and Department of Chemistry entitled "Catalytic Cycloadition of CO2 and Epoxides using Sustainable Metal-Based Catalysis" was given by Dr. Feda'a Al-Qaisi (The Hashemite University - Department of Chemistry) on 10/12/2019. 

 

* The Scientific Committees in Faculty of Science and Department of Chemistry have organized a seminar on 28/11/2019, entitled "Environmentally Safe Oxidation - Kinetics and Catalysis", which was given by Prof. Ahmad Ajlouni - Chemistry Department - Jordan University of Science and Technology.

 

 

* A scientific seminar was organized on 13/11/2019 by the Seminar Committee in the department , entitled "The search for Natural and Synthetic Anticancer Drugs", which was given by Prof. Mohammad Mubarak from University of Jordan-Chemistry Department.

* Department of Chemistry has organized a seminar on 3/11/2019 entitled "Chemistry and Industry in Jordan" given by Dr. Ahmad Abdo from "Vivid Separation and Filtration" 

 

 

* The students of “Analysis in Industry” course (2nd semester 2018/2019) have performed their projects, which include analysis of some chemical species in real samples, using methods published in the literature.

Method validation is also made during and after the analysis, ending with a validation report for the used method.

Projects were:

Sodium in two kinds of chips

Tetrazine dye in powdered orange juice

Caffeine in Pepsi

Iron in green plants, vitamin mix, ands folic acid drug.

Copper in cow's liver

Calcium in powdered milk

Potassium in commercial orange juice

Paracetamol in Panadol

   

 

* Chemistry Open Day for Graduates 2018/2019:

A New Highlight over a Jordanian scientific research at Berkeley Global Science Institute (BGSI), University of California-Berkeley.

As a result of BGSI's participation in the 2017 World Science Forum in Jordan, our global science center at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), led by Dr. Bassem A. Al-Maythalony, established collaborations with a team of Jordanian researchers, led by Dr. Abdussalam K. Qaroush, Dr. Ala'a F. Eftaiha, and Dr. Khaleel I. Assaf. Their collaboration resulted in a research article on carbon capture using a sugar-based absorbent. The team went to great lengths to detail the characterization of not only the material but also the mechanism behind capturing CO2.

Aside from the fascinating science, this report represents a concrete outcome of the power of research engagement through the global science network. We, at BGSI, are proud of this result.

* Event Day for Graduates 2017/2018:
