Overview of Bachelor of CIS

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS) at The Hashemite University is a four-year undergraduate program designed to prepare graduates for professional careers in information systems, business computing, and related information technology fields. The program was established in 2001 and is offered by the Department of Computer Information Systems within the Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah II Faculty of Information Technology.

The program requires the successful completion of 132 credit hours and provides students with a strong foundation in information systems, software development, database systems, systems analysis and design, enterprise applications, business intelligence, computer networks, cybersecurity fundamentals, and emerging information technologies. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with practical experience through laboratory work, software development projects, practical training, and a two-semester graduation project.

Students develop competencies in analyzing organizational and business requirements, designing, developing, implementing, and managing information systems that support organizational objectives. They gain proficiency in integrating computing technologies with business processes, applying modern tools and methodologies, and evaluating information systems to improve organizational performance and decision-making. The program also emphasizes analytical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, ethical and professional responsibility, leadership, and lifelong learning, preparing graduates to address the technological and organizational challenges of today's digital environment.

The program is supported by modern laboratories, computing facilities, library resources, and industry engagement activities. The curriculum is aligned with the Jordan National Qualifications Framework (JNQF) and international standards, ensuring that graduates are well prepared for careers in information systems, business analysis, systems analysis and design, enterprise systems development, database administration, IT consulting, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, professional development, and postgraduate studies. The Computer Information Systems (CIS) program has been accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET since 2019, reflecting its commitment to continuous quality improvement and internationally recognized standards of excellence in computing education.
