By the name of academic, technical and administrative staff of Basic Medical Sciences department we would like to welcome you to the departmental page. 

The Department of Basic Medical Sciences at The Hashemite University, Faculty of Medicine is a multidisciplinary department designed to deliver the basic medical sciences curriculum to medical students, pharmacy students, and laboratory medicine students as well as to perform cutting edge biomedical research.

The Basic Medical Sciences Department staffed by an array of international faculty with expertise in areas such as anatomy, biochemistry, molecular biology, public health, genetics, immunobiology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, psychology, clinical skills and medical education. Integration of the basic sciences with clinical medicine is a keynote of our educational curriculum.

The first three years for medical students cover comprehensive curriculum merging between both theoretical and practical teaching (Integrated System) alongside training at Clinical Skills. The department staff is responsible for teaching 1200 medical students in the first three years, 21 subjects and 9 modules equivalent to 98 credit hours of teaching.

The basic medical sciences are fundamental not only to educating the next generation of physicians, but also in improving the lives of citizens through scientific research which will make an impact in preventing and treating common disorders. Faculty members are actively engaged in different research projects relevant to our community. All students are required to participate in research projects as a prerequisite for graduation.
