The COVID-19 pandemic showed the importance of strengthening healthcare systems worldwide. This pandemic has put some health systems under immense pressure and stretched others beyond their capacity. On the other hand, the skyrocketing prevalence and economic burden of chronic disease has become a significant crisis in most countries. Although these diseases could be avoided or minimized; the healthcare systems remain focused on treating illness rather than preventing its onset. Clinical nutrition and food science is one of the most important fields for preserving health of population and slowing progression of diseases and thus a significant potential for reducing the healthcare costs and enhancing the economic productivity.

The Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics is well-positioned to be a national and international leader in human nutrition and our BSc. program is unique in terms of the high quality courses and the intensive supervised training that we offer, while encouraging the students to reach their potential. Nowadays with increasing nutrition related health problems, chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, our graduates have evidence-based knowledge and necessary skills to provide the medical nutrition therapy for these diseases. We aim to remain a recognized department at national and international levels in education and training of graduates as nutrition specialists, educators, consultants or researchers who take a position of leadership in clinical nutrition and dietetics in healthcare agencies, food industry, educational establishments.

It is imperative to have technical experts to achieve these goals. Our outstanding faculty members have different academic and research experiences and they are breaking new ground with innovative research. We are proud of our many research and educational accomplishments to date.
