In addition, students are practicing nursing procedures and healthcare in the various acute and chronic care units in the various health care sectors (governmental, military and private) in Jordan.

At the undergraduate level, nursing students are initially motivated to learn through carefully guided experiences in well-prepared nursing skills labs. In their first year, students are trained on various nursing procedures and then in their second year they are allowed to practice clinical nursing where they are instructed and supervised to use critical thinking skills in caring for adult patients with acute and chronic health deviations. As the students progress for roles of increasing nursing complexity in their last undergraduate year, the educational process become more independent and inquiry based in the intensive clinical training courses.

At the graduate level in the specialty of oncology, high emphasis is placed in the first year on developing skills in health history taking, physical assessment and advanced pharmacology. During the final year, the focus is on building in-depth clinical expertise in oncology nursing and learning the principles and application of case management and consultation. Graduate students receive their clinical training at oncology wards and at King Hussein Cancer Center and its hospice services and also governmental hospitals.

Currently, the department has nine faculty members with a PhD degree, two full-time lecturers with a Master Degree in Nursing, 12 clinical instructors holding a Bachelor Degree in nursing, one lab supervisor, one lab technician in addition to one administrative staff.
