Welcome to the Community and Mental Health Nursing Department

The Community and Mental Health Nursing Department is one of three departments at the Faculty of Nursing-Hashemite University. The department contributes within the bachelor's degree at the level of the third and fourth years, in addition to the master's program in “Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing”. The department courses are concerned with developing different skills, behaviors and attitudes that enable students to adapt to work conditions and communicate effectively with different types of clients in different situations and circumstances.

At the undergraduate level, the department offer many theoretical and clinical nursing courses. These courses include: community health nursing (theoretical + practical), mental health nursing (theoretical + practical), leadership and management in nursing (theoretical + practical), communication skills, prevention and health promotion, ethics of science and technology, and an introduction to nursing informatics. It also offers supporting materials to other disciplines such as “Health care services management” for students of applied health sciences.
At the master's level, the department offers a two-course program (a comprehensive exam or a thesis) that includes Advanced Mental Health Nursing I, II, & III (Theoretical + Practical), legal and ethical issues in the health system, health system policies, and research project. 

Our clinical training facilities include one lab, multiple acute and chronic health care facilities from different healthcare sectors in Jordan, and other national facilities such as schools (Ministry of Education and The United Nations Relief and Works Agency-Jordan) and nursing homes. The department also contributes to providing health care services to the local community through various activities and volunteer works.

The department has ten faculty members; nine of them are PhD holders (4 professors, 2 associate professors, 3assistant professors) in three disciplines (community health nursing, mental health nursing, leadership and management in nursing), as well as one master's degree teacher. The department also has five clinical instructors who supervise the training of students at clinical sites.
