Dr. YAZAN AHMAD ABDELQADER GHARAIBEH
The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in the academic year 1999/2000 as one of the departments of the Faculty of Engineering at The Hashemite University.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering offers a five-year bachelor’s program in Medical Engineering with 160 credit hours, aiming to prepare the department’s graduates for all fields of biomedical engineering in Jordan and abroad, through theoretical and practical subjects, studies and research projects, with the objective of preparing our graduates to serve their community and improve the level of healthcare facilities and services. The students obtain a world-class academic education that prepares engineers in the field with engineering foundations and an understanding of the human body as an integrated engineering system, and work on the application of research methods to identify important challenges that affect human health and to solve them efficiently.

- The Department is ABET accredited.
- The department achieves an advanced ranking among all biomedical engineering departments in Jordanian universities, according to the classification and efficiency of the Higher Education Accreditation Commission.
- The department has received a number of awards from the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and BiologySociety (EMBS).
- The graduates received several awards in the graduation projects competitions and competitions organized by the Jordanian Engineers Association, where the department won several awards in this field.
- Participation of faculty members in conferences, national programs, cultural forums and courses.
- A number of faculty members have received local and international awards.
- Publishing a wide range of research and articles in reputable international journal.
- The department has received financial grants to support a number of important research.
- The department is preparing to develop the plans of the bachelor's program to keep pace with developments in the field, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and clinical management and informatics.
- The department is preparing to establish a master’s degree program in biomedical engineering in the near future.
