Welcome to the Department of Special Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine at the Hashemite University. 

In our department, we deal with sciences that have their peculiar aspects in disease presentation, pathophysiology, and ways of management. Our students get exposed to these variable disorders, and build up on the cumulative knowledge that was acquired during the basic years, as well as during the previous general clinical practice that was obtained in general surgery and general medicine. 

Our department provides its services to the students of the Hashemite University in the College of Medicine by establishing and transferring knowledge of human diseases and applying them to clinical diagnosis and treatment. This is done by giving integrated theoretical and practical lectures to medical students in the fourth and fifth years. We are distinguished by making our lectures clinically oriented towards conditions that will be encountered in the clinical practice of general practitioner, and let the future doctors recognize what are the specialties about.

Our department includes a group of specialized professors and specialists with international certificates and training at a distinguished level, where they share their experience and knowledge with the students of our college. They also have the passion to educate our students to know when to treat or refer patients safely to subspecialists. In addition, our faculty members train residents to get qualified in managing advanced diseases. 

Not only our esteemed professors offer their services to patients in the affiliated hospitals, but they also involve the students in the clinics, inpatient care, special departmental activities, and sometimes in the operating rooms. This obviously will add to the clinical abilities that our students will have, and this will assist them to help their future patients after graduation.
