Dr. DUA' FAISAL MOHAMMED ABUQUTEISH
Welcome to the Department of Microbiology, Pathology and Forensic Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at the Hashemite University.
Pathology is a science that specializes in studying and diagnosing diseases by examining tissues or body fluids. It is considered a branch of medical science that deals with the study of disease characteristics and structural and histological changes of cells, tissues and organs through the analysis of tissue samples, cells and various body fluids.
Our department provides its services to the students of the Hashemite University in the College of Medicine by establishing and transferring knowledge of human diseases and applying them to clinical diagnosis and treatment by giving integrated theoretical and practical lectures to medical students in the second and third year with a full explanation of the basics of pathology and through multiple courses for all body systems. We are distinguished by making our lectures clinically oriented by giving the student many examples of pathological conditions that he or she will encounter in the clinical practice of medicine in his or her coming years.
Our department includes a group of specialized professors and specialists with international certificates and training at a distinguished level, where they share their experience and knowledge with the students of our college. This also applies to the subject of microbiology, which is concerned with the study of bacteria and their genetic details and their impact on humans and how to treat them in addition to the science of viruses, fungi and parasites. In addition to theoretical learning, our students receive direct practical training in our laboratories and study different types of bacteria types under a light microscope.
Our esteemed professors also teach the subject of forensic medicine, which forms part of the curriculum for 4th year medical students. This is taught in the morgue of Prince Hamzah Teaching Hospital. The aim here to increase the experience of our students with the causes of death and what are the tissue and organic changes that occur in the human body and the reasons behind these changes are studied through the autopsy of the dead. Forensic medicine is applied in cases of criminal investigation in the real world.
