Courses related to internal medicine and its branches have always been the basis for medical education over the decades. They include extensive scientific content and numerous clinical skills that a medical student must master before graduating as a doctor and working in this humanitarian profession. Hence, our vision of the necessity of designing our program to meet the needs of medical students in the clinical years through an educational program that covers a large group of basic topics in internal medicine and developing and updating it continuously to contribute to establishing and creating a successful doctor.

Our teaching plans aim to ensure that each student benefits from intensive clinical training in a number of hospitals across the Kingdom, and to see patients in the various hospital departments, as well as training in outpatient clinics so that the student can master the basic skills of taking a medical history, clinical examination, identifying diagnostic methods, analyzing their results, and familiarizing himself with various treatment methods, both medicinal and procedural. The scientific materials also cover emergency cases and how to deal with them, in addition to including the most important scientific medical topics within a clear study plan adopted by the student. Students are given a set of lectures and the role of students is activated in preparing and presenting seminars under the supervision of faculty members and benefiting from the available electronic education methods. The remarkable growth in the excellent national reputation of the department is attributed to the presence of dedicated and competent faculty members who have completed their post-residency training in internal medicine in many subspecialties in advanced scientific and medical centers. They supervise the teaching of our students and follow up with them in their clinical phase. It is an honor to be one of the members of this team.

In addition to the basic academic tasks of excellence in patient care, medical education and training, the department always seeks to maintain a leading role in the research mission of the Faculty of Medicine and the university as a whole. The faculty members of the department are greatly involved in a variety of clinical and basic scientific research projects, and they also work as mentors and advisors to medical students in the scientific research course as a graduation project for them. Our staff also supervises the clinical training of the newly introduced internal medicine residency students. In parallel, we seek to involve them in these research and academic activities in addition to supervising their clinical training within the residency program accredited by the Jordanian Medical Council.

Our vision is to be at the forefront of medical education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and this can only be achieved through dedication to teaching and the presence of faculty members committed to always providing the best for our students in partnership with a number of clinical instructors contracted with distinguished medical institutions such as the Royal Medical Services, the Ministry of Health and the private sector. We seek to keep pace with the latest theoretical and clinical teaching methods and build exams based on clear, internationally approved examination policies adopted by the university. We also seek to continue and develop joint research production in a manner consistent with colleagues in other departments and from outside the university, out of our absolute belief that we are now in the era of evidence-based medicine and research, and these skills are essential to building the future of medicine in our Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
