Chair Message
Dr. ASHRAF ABIDRABBU SULEIMAN ALI
I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Hashemite University and I hope you will find it both interesting and informative. The department was established in 1999. In 2011, all departments in the Engineering Faculty got the approval for the special accreditation by the Higher Ministry of Jordan. The new plan became 160 credit hours to provide a balance between the theoretical and experimental courses.
The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical engineering at the Hashemite University is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Electrical, Computer, Communications, Telecommunication(s) and Similarly Named Engineering Programs. The department future plan is to get the quality assurance certificate.
The mission of the Electrical Engineering Department is to serve society through excellence in education, research, scholarship, and public outreach. We strive to provide an education in electrical engineering for our students and instill in them the attitudes, values, and vision that will prepare them for lifetimes of continued learning and leadership in their chosen careers. The Electrical Engineering Department also strives to generate new knowledge through research and to facilitate technology transfer for the benefit of Jordan.
We take pride in providing our students with high quality education through a modern and innovative curriculum delivered by a group of highly qualified and highly motivated academic staff in world class facilities and laboratories. Our staffs are involved in areas of research that include communications, electronics, signal processing, power electronics, electrical machines, energy efficiency issues and power systems. Our students develop the basic skills needed to perform and design experimental projects, the ability to formulate problems and projects and to plan a process for solution taking advantage of diverse technical knowledge and skills. They also provide an appreciation for the broad spectrum of issues arising in professional practice, including teamwork, leadership, safety, ethics, service, economics, and professional organizations.
I believe the Electrical Engineering is an exciting field that promises excellent career opportunities for graduates in all sectors of society, advancing the frontiers of science and technology, locally and globally. The department is now seeking to establish postgraduate studies for a variety of electrical engineering fields.
