Welcome
The Department of Conservation Science at the Hashemite University is considered one of the first departments to grant a bachelor’s degree in the field of “Conservation Science” in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The department is also considered one of the most valuable departments with multiple expertise, which is clearly evident in the information, skills and experiences that students receive from teachers. The department grants a bachelor's degree in the field of "Conservation Science," through which the student is exposed to various scientific (theoretical and practical) subjects related to cultural heritage preservation and management. Graduate students can work in several fields concerned with heritage preservation, such as: Department of Antiquities, national museums, archaeological and natural reserves, etc. Students can also enroll in postgraduate programs in their specialty or related specializations. Graduate students will assist decision-makers in encouraging the preservation of national heritage. The Department of Conservation Science has a multi-disciplinary teaching staff with high scientific competence in research, teaching and development. We in the department are engaged in the teaching and research process, community service, and in various fields related to the preservation and maintenance of cultural heritage in Jordan. This is in addition to participating in a number of international and local projects related to archaeology and preservation. The specialty of “conservation Science” plays a major role in preserving and sustaining cultural heritage, especially those exposed to factors of damage, erosion, and pressure from visitors, and works to educate the local community about the importance of preserving its heritage sites. The importance of this specialization is highlighted in its harmony with the mission of the Hashemite University in scientific research, serving the national heritage, working with the local community, and preserving this valuable Jordanian heritage. Graduate students in this major must be alerted to the importance of their role in building the future of our society. Because our role appears in valuable scientific applications in preserving cultural heritage, and in future planning for the management and preservation of archaeological sites.
