welcome
Our mission at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, is to improve the quality of life for women in the community and beyond by providing compassionate high quality patient care and by advancing knowledge through research, education, and advocacy. We do so in an environment of collaboration, humility, integrity, and respect.
The department involves a group of esteemed professors with international certificates and training at a celebrated level, and qualified faculty members who seek to keep up to date with the latest methods of teaching and scientific research to educate medical students and share their experience in the basic knowledge and skills of obstetrics and gynaecology and to give the students clinical exposures to the practice of women's health care.
Our department provides education in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to medical students through their fifth and sixth years of undergraduate study, medical interns, and obstetrics and gynaecology residents through a variety of evidence-based teaching strategies integrating theoretical and clinical practice in the University-affiliated hospitals. This is achieved by the daily morning reports, bedside teaching and ward rounds, presentations and seminars, lectures, shadowing in the outpatient clinics, attending and -for the residents- assisting in the operating theatre, and attending different labour ward and delivery activities.
Medical research is a fundamental part of the continuing medical development strategy implemented in the obstetrics and gynaecology department, where the recognized professors in our department continuously conduct and participate in research studying viral and important topics, with also giving the chance for students and residents to participate effectively thus prepare them for their future career.
The department also engages actively in community service and international and local conferences where they always aspire to represent The Hashemite University at the best possible image.
