This course mainly examines literature written in the 20th century by English and American writers within socio-political and historical contexts. Moreover, the course reads Anglo-American literary texts from modernist and postmodernist perspectives. Writers considered include F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, John Steinbeck (American) and George Orwell, Graham Greene, William Golding, and Anthony Powell (English). The course also teaches varieties of modern Anglo-American literature like Irish, Welsh, Scottish, Afro-American, and Native American literature |
