This course will deal with the prime civilizations of the classical period, the Persian, Hellenic / Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine civilizations. Their chronological order and geographical distribution will be presented. An overview on the main archaeological sites, architectural features and the cultural artifacts of those civilizations will be given The course will also focus on the cultural impact of those civilizations on the Eastern Mediterranean region, their relationships with the contemporaneous civilizations and the reasons caused their fall. |
