Addresses the advanced practice psychiatric/mental nurse practitioner role in multiple settings and specific psychiatric and mental disorders from a historical and contemporary perspectives. This course examines issues and concepts in the specialized areas of psychiatric and mental health nursing, and focuses on the promotion of psychiatric and mental health and the care of clients experiencing psychiatric and mental health problems. The course utilizes theoretical concepts and builds on the knowledge and skills of the student in the care of the client, families and the community with psychological disorders, and in the nursing management of specific disorders.
