This course addresses occupational therapy practice in mental health and the impact of mental health conditions and psychosocial factors on occupational performance and participation. It covers assessment and analysis of activities of daily living, habits and routines, education, work, leisure, and social participation; therapeutic relationships and communication; goal setting; and the use of activity and occupation in individual and group interventions. Topics also include development of life and social skills, organization of habits and routines, psychosocial and vocational rehabilitation, and community integration and participation. Emphasis is placed on person-centered, recovery-oriented, occupation-based, and evidence-informed practice, clinical reasoning, and collaboration with families and mental health teams. |
