This course examines the theoretical foundations, conceptual models, and frames of reference that guide occupational therapy practice and the relationships among the person, occupation, environment, performance, and participation. It explores major occupational therapy theories, models, and selected frames of reference and principles for their selection and application in evaluation, goal setting, intervention planning, and outcome measurement. Emphasis is placed on critical comparison and analysis of theoretical approaches, their application to diverse cases and practice situations, and integration of theory with practice to develop clinical reasoning, justify professional decisions, and support person-centered, occupation-based, and evidence-informed practice. |
