This course introduces fundamental principles and methods of scientific research and their application to occupational therapy and rehabilitation sciences. It covers formulation of research problems, questions, and hypotheses; literature searching and review; quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods designs; sampling and data collection; principles of measurement, validity, and reliability; and basic data analysis and interpretation. Research ethics, bias, sources of error, and critical appraisal are also addressed. Students develop research questions, prepare research proposals, and select appropriate methodologies, with emphasis on searching for, appraising, and applying scientific evidence to support evidence-based occupational therapy practice and professional decision-making. |
