This course provides supervised practical experiences designed to integrate foundational theoretical knowledge and practical occupational therapy skills prior to advanced fieldwork experiences. Students practice professional communication, observation, information gathering, activity and occupational performance analysis, basic assessment skills, problem identification and goal setting, and participation in planning and implementing appropriate occupational therapy interventions under supervision. Emphasis is placed on safe client handling, documentation, appropriate use of equipment and resources, introductory clinical reasoning, confidentiality, ethical and professional conduct, and teamwork within rehabilitation settings. |
