This course introduces the fundamental principles of skin care and skin integrity relevant to occupational therapy practice, including the structure and functions of the skin, wound healing, and factors affecting skin integrity. It addresses the prevention, assessment, and basic management principles of wounds, pressure injuries, burns, scars, and other conditions affecting skin integrity. Emphasis is placed on their impact on occupational performance, independence, and participation in activities of daily living, with application of appropriate positioning, pressure-relief strategies, environmental adaptations, patient and caregiver education, and relevant approaches and techniques within the scope of occupational therapy and interdisciplinary care. |
