Course Discription : This practical course provides hands-on application of the concepts and foundational skills introduced in Occupational Therapy for Developmental Disabilities I. Students develop skills in systematic observation of developmental and occupational performance, information gathering, use of appropriate assessment tools, and analysis of activities and play to identify strengths and limitations affecting occupational performance and participation. Students also practice developing child- and family-centered goals and planning and implementing therapeutic activities and interventions addressing motor, sensory, perceptual, cognitive, activities of daily living, and play-related needs. Practical experiences emphasize safe handling, communication with children and families, documentation, clinical reasoning, and adaptation of activities and environments according to individual abilities and needs.
