Course Discription : This course introduces the foundations of occupational therapy practice with children with developmental delays and disabilities, emphasizing the relationship between growth and development, occupational performance, and participation in meaningful activities. It addresses fundamental principles of assessment and intervention for common developmental conditions, with attention to motor, sensory, perceptual, cognitive, social, and emotional performance and their influence on activities of daily living, play, learning, and family and social participation. The course also introduces occupational performance analysis, identification of child and family needs, development of child- and family-centered goals, and selection of occupation-, play-, and evidence-based interventions within the child’s natural contexts and environments, while considering family involvement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
