The initial preparation for practical application begins with the course "Field Observations and Reflections" which is offered in the second year. Students are expected to attend training institutions two days a week for a full semester. During this course, students make field observations and are assigned reflective tasks aimed at helping them understand the work environment on the one hand, and identify the applied reality and link it to the knowledge they learn in other theoretical subjects on the other hand. The course must be designed so that students are assigned programmed and purposeful tasks, within a protocol known and clear to all parties (student, faculty member, trainer in the cooperating training institution, ...). No supervisory visits from the subject teacher are required in this course, as the student has not yet started the practical application process. It is sufficient to meet one weekly at the university for an hour, in order to discuss the work of students and assign them tasks. A firm mechanism must be put in place to ensure that students' commitment to attendance in training institutions is followed up and in cooperation with partners working in those institutions. |
