The main goal of this course is to introduce students to the principles of dental health education, prevention and control of oral diseases, promotion of community dental health services. Students will be introduced to the basics of oral and dental anatomy including the function and development of teeth. Students will be learning basics of oral and dental healthcare principles to acquire adequate knowledge. The students will learn about the causes and risk factors of the most common conditions affecting the mouth, teeth and gingivae. In addition, students will learn about the main epidemiological biostatistics data of oral and dental diseases locally and globally and the best preventive methods and treatment options in dentistry. Students will be also introduced to the different specialties in dentistry and learn about the most common dental myths and separate fact from fiction armed with trustworthy information. |
