This course deals with play as the principle medium of children's learning and development, from the ages of 5 through 9 years. Students will learn the teacher's role in supporting, facilitating, and guiding children's play. It emphasizes the value of play and creativity in young children's learning and development. As it also introduces the stages and types of children's play and their characteristics. The course also provides students with the knowledge of how to arrange space, time and materials to support children's play; basic competence in active listening and appropriate speech for young children; and how to integrate play into the curriculum. |
