This course concentrates on the assessment process for young children with special needs including information on the legal basis and recommended practices in assessing young children with special needs, information on tests and measurement and considerations in assessment of young children with insuring cultural competence in assessment. The course also covers special concerns in the assessment of young children, child find, screening, and tracking. It also covers the assessment of sensory processes in young children, cognitive, motor, communication, social interaction, play and adaptive skills of young children assessment of family concerns, resources, and priorities, and assessment of the environment in which young children function. The course finally concentrates on the process of using assessment information to plan instructional programs for infants and young children with special needs including the process of monitoring child progress. |
