This course addresses the concept of social education (its nature and components: history, geography, national education) and its objectives and importance. The course also discusses instructional planning, instructional objectives, competencies necessary for teachers of social studies, different learning resources, non-classroom activities, homework assignments, textbooks, current events, local environment, teaching aids, social and national education curriculum for the early three grades in terms of: trends, values, skills, use of direct observation and methods of teaching history, maps, problem solving, creativity and evaluation in the field of social studies |
