(180701721) Advanced Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (2): 3 CH (3+0), Pre-requisite (180701720)
Provides a continuous practice experience that consolidates previous learning and allow opportunities for clinical nurses to advance their mental health nursing practice expertise in the provision of nursing care for clients and/or families. The course provides students with an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge of mental health and crisis management nursing to clinical practice. Students will be able to develop both cognitive and psychomotor skills necessary to perform assessments to clients by gathering a health history, and by performing a mental status assessment. Students will be able to analyze these data to develop a plan of care for clients with psychiatric and mental illness. Student will have an opportunity to examine how the social, cultural, economic and political environments of mental health will influence his/her practices.
