This course is designed to provide a survey of American literature in the 19th and 20th centuries, including the study of selections from the poetry of this period, to be followed by a critical study of selected works of fiction and drama. The course also focuses on works by famous writers of the 19th century such as Thoreau, Melville, and Hawthorne. It highlights some works by famous writers of the 20th century like Faulkner and Scott Fitzgerald. |
