This course aims at developing students’ capabilities in listening comprehension, to the extent that would enable them understand and follow the lectures of the various courses given at the English Department. It also aims at training the students on the skills of summarizing, note-taking, outlining and responding, orally and in writing, to questions asked about the material selected for the course. As for the second part of the title of the course, conversation, students will be tasked to orally deliver talks on topics selected by the course instructor. Initially, these talks will be presented in full from a written paper prepared by students, but, as the course advances, students will be required to deliver such talks from a written outline only. In either case, each presented topic will be open to group discussion by the whole class. |
