This course analyzes the major concepts in Islamic political thought, the attitudes of schools and intellectual doctrines, and the position of past and present philosophers (such as Al-Farabi, IbnRushd, IbnSina, Ghazali and IbnTaymiyyah) on issues such as power and the state, the concepts of power and the state, and the association of their interpretation of these issues with the problems faced by their societies. The course also anatomizes the answers offered by Muslim thinkers to the challenges facing Islamic societies today and how to deal strategically with them. Finally, the course discusses the most important principles of the Amman Message. |
