Course Discription
:
The course explores the main functions and properties of water, the basic concepts of plant-water relations such as the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum, and explains how water affects the physiological processes that control the quantity and quality of growth. The course provides the essential understandings of the factors affecting, and the techniques of measuring, the entry, retention, and movement of water into and through the soil-plant system. The course focuses on soil-plant-atmosphere continuum and the plant-water balance dynamics, including transpiration, movement of soil-water to roots and extraction by roots, plant-water translocations, and the effects of drought stress on plant productivity.
