This course is designed to increase students’ awareness of the concepts of citizenship, democracy, and human rights together with an exploration of the origin of each concept. This course also discusses different disciplinary perspectives within the field of ‘the civil state’ and compare them with the principles of shura as drawn from the Islamic vision. To increase the awareness of such perspectives, the discussion papers of His Majesty King Abdullah II that address citizenship, democratic transition, the rule of law and the civil state are practically considered in this course.Contemporary human rights, specifically women's and children's rights. |
