Ancient Arab Writings
This course discusses ancient texts and inscriptions of North Arabian nomads (Thamud, Safaitics, and Lihyanites), and settling Arabs (Nabataeans and Palmyrians ); a brief explanation will be given on South Arabs writings as Musnad, Ma’inean, Sabaean, Hadhramite and Qatabanean. Selected inscriptions will be studied to follow the development of Arabic writing from Nabataean to Early Arabic to Kufi.
