This course introduces the principles and concepts of effective communication in rehabilitation settings, with emphasis on establishing professional and therapeutic relationships with clients, families, and caregivers. It addresses verbal and nonverbal communication, active listening, questioning, interviewing, information provision, health education, and person-centered communication. The course also explores communication strategies for individuals with diverse needs, including sensory, cognitive, language, and communication difficulties, while considering individual, cultural, social, and psychological differences. Emphasis is placed on empathy, professional boundaries, privacy and confidentiality, management of challenging interactions and situations, and effective communication and collaboration within interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams to promote participation, shared decision-making, and quality rehabilitation care. |
