Neurosurgery is a broad field covering a range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions that target pathological processes affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. It consists of a comprehensive seminar, bed side teaching, outpatient clinic attendance and operating theatre attendance (if appropriate). In this course we focus on neurosurgical emergencies. Starting from the diagnosis to proper and safe management. Applying basic knowledge learned in basic years on patients in aiming to build up the skills of taking history and doing physical examination to reach the possible diagnosis and plan the proper treatment.
The course will be delivered through a combination of active learning strategies. These will include:
PowerPoint lectures and active classroom-based discussion
Case presentation and bedside teaching
Collaborative learning through small groups acting in an interdisciplinary context.
Morning reports and Simulated case discussions
Video lectures
E-learning resources: e-reading assignments and practice quizzes through Model and Microsoft Team
