This course discusses issues like: the history of semantics for the Arabs and other people, the relation between the sound and its meaning during the earlier times and nowadays, and the different types of semantic relationships: dictionary, phonetic, grammatical, and syntactic (structure and parsing), social, contextual, and semantic theory. All these will be studied as put by the Arabs (Ibn Jenni as a sample). Finally, the course will study the different semantic fields, especially in certain newly written dictionaries that tend to be more objective. |
