Course Discription |
:
This course defines the outlines of the Western North African Andalusia and Maghreb literature, and its successive maturity from the dawn of Islam till the fall of Granada. Students will discuss the aim of poetry in these areas, its quest for self-preservation, the new techniques which flourished in this period of time and place, and finally, the effects of the Eastern Arabic or Al Mashreq schools of prose on this art in Andalusia and Maghreb. Students will conclude the course with a procedural comparison which means to bring out the originality and emulation aspects of this form of literature in these western Arabic speaking lands. |
