This practical course provides advanced application of occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and complex occupational needs. Students practice selecting, administering, and interpreting appropriate assessment tools and integrating assessment findings to analyze occupational performance, establish priorities and goals, and design and implement child- and family-centered, occupation-based, and evidence-informed intervention plans. Practical applications address activities of daily living, play, educational and social participation, sensory, motor, perceptual, and cognitive interventions, activity and environmental modification, and selection of appropriate assistive technologies and adaptive solutions. Emphasis is placed on advanced clinical reasoning, documentation, outcome measurement, family and caregiver education, communication, and collaborative interdisciplinary practice. |
