This practical course provides advanced application of occupational therapy assessment and intervention skills for individuals with complex mental health conditions and psychosocial needs. Students integrate findings from interviews, observations, and assessment tools to analyze occupational performance, establish priorities and goals, and design and implement person-centered, occupation-based, recovery-oriented, and evidence-informed intervention plans. Practical applications include planning and facilitating individual and group interventions, developing life and social skills, organizing habits and routines, psychosocial and vocational rehabilitation, and supporting community participation and integration. Emphasis is placed on advanced clinical reasoning, activity and environmental modification, outcome measurement, documentation, risk management, client and family education, and collaborative practice within mental health teams and services. |
